VIDEO-EFF back to protest outside H&M Gateway

EFF returns to Gateway to protest outside H&M.

MEMBERS of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) have returned to Gateway Theatre of Shopping to protest outside fashion retailer H&M. Earlier this week, Metro Police, Durban North SAPS, Public Order Police and Gateway security had prevented a handful of members from entering the store to shut it down.

However, according to initial reports, EFF members allegedly wore plain clothes over their party t-shirts to get into the building.

The EFF protests come after an advertisement by the international clothing company showing a black child in a green hoodie with the words “Coolest Monkey in the Jungle” on it, which caused backlash on social media.

The retailer had apologised following the backlash and removed the controversial image when the protests began.

Earlier this month, members of the party had disrupted and damaged the H&M store at the Mall of Africa.

Leader of the party, Julius Malema said the dignity of black people was not something to joke about.

“We cannot allow the humiliation of black people to continue. No one should make jokes about the dignity of black people. “We make no apology for what the fighters did against H&M,” he said in an interview to The Citizen.
