eMdloti family robbed by armed suspects

The suspects also made off with the homeowner's vehicle in the armed robbery.

A GANG of four men held up a family in eMdloti on Thursday evening. This is the fifteenth armed robbery since October last year that Northglen News has reported on. According to Capt Raymond Deokaran, spokesman for the Durban North SAPS, the incident occurred at about 8.30pm on a road just off South Beach Road.

“The armed men stormed the home and held up the family who were at home at the time. Various items were stolen including an iPhone, cash, a firearm as well as the homeowner’s red Hyundai i20 vehicle. Thankfully the vehicle was recovered in Chesterville, however the suspects with the stolen loot remain at large,” he said.

Deokaran added police were working on initiatives to combat the spike in house robberies in the area.

The eMdloti home invasion was one of four reported in Durban and surrounding areas yesterday. Three homes were also robbed in Westville within 45 minutes of each other.
