Domestic worker robbed in Durban North

The two suspects are still at large.

A DOMESTIC worker was robbed of a large sum of money and her valuables after allegedly being followed from an ATM in Durban North. According to Capt Raymond Deokaran, spokesman for the Durban North SAPS, the incident occurred at about 1pm on Wednesday afternoon.

“The robbery occurred near the intersection of Mackeurtan Avenue and Hoylake Drive. Two armed suspects held up the domestic worker making off with her handbag which contained her cell phone and purse. Her purse contained R1 000 which she had drawn from an ATM in the area. We believe she may have been followed by the suspects who were possibly looking for an easy target,” he said.

He has urged domestic workers, where possible to try and walk in big groups to avoid falling victim to muggings.
