Umhlanga Ridge businessman shot in the neck

The incident occurred on Palm Boulevard on Tuesday night.

DURBAN North SAPS are investigating a shooting of an uMhlanga businessman which occurred on Tuesday evening at about 9.30pm. According to Marshall Security’s Kyle van Reenen, they received a call for a shooting at a business premises in Palm Boulevard.

“Reports from the scene indicate that as a business owner was leaving his workplace, he was approached by three men. One of the men drew a firearm and fired a shot, injuring the business owner, before fleeing the scene. Netcare 911 advanced life support paramedics worked to stabilise the man on scene, before rushing him to nearby Umhlanga Hospital.  He remains in a critical condition,” he said.

“The patient was stabilised on scene and transported to hospital. He sustained a single gun shot wound to his neck. At this stage the motive for the shooting is unknown and will form subject of a police investigation,” said Shawn Herbst of Netcare 911.
