Man robbed of R2 400 at North Coast Road ATM

No arrests have been made says Greenwood Park SAPS.

GREENWOOD Park police has warned residents to be extra vigilant around ATMs. This comes after a man was robbed of R2 400 by two suspects who forced him to withdraw money from his account. According to Sergeant Vincent Mthembu, spokesman for the station, the incident occurred at about 3pm on Friday.

“After finishing the transaction at the ATM, the victim was approached by one of the suspects. He threatened the man not to make a scene and instructed him to insert his card back to the ATM machine and enter his pin code. He did as he was instructed, he was then pushed out of the way, while the suspect took over the transaction. The victim ran inside the service station for assistance from the manager.

“In that time R2 400 was withdrawn by the criminals. The suspects used a red WV Golf in the process. I warn the members of the public not to trust the strangers around ATMs or if you see something suspicious don’t use the ATM,” Mthembu said.

No arrests have been made.
