Couple robbed after vehicle breaks down

The suspects made off with jewellery, wallets and cell phones.

GREENWOOD Park SAPS are investigating the armed robbery of a couple on the M25 near the KwaMashu off-ramp recently.

According to Sergeant Vincent Mthembu, spokesman for the station, the couple had just passed the service station on the M25 when their vehicle broke down.

“They pulled off to the side of the road and were then confronted by three men, one of whom was armed. The suspect pointed a firearm at the victim’s wife and demanded her rings. They then took the man’s watch and both their cell phones. The suspects fled the scene on foot,” he said.

In December, a man was stabbed after breaking down on the M4 Ruth First Highway. The suspect attacked the driver of the vehicle who was changing his tyre.

The suspect began assaulting the victim who sustained lacerations to his head and hands, before fleeing on foot in an unknown direction. Paramedics stabilised the victim on scene before being taken to a nearby hospital for further care.
