A 26-YEAR-OLD man was injured in yet another rock throwing incident on the N2. Netcare 911 paramedics responded to the latest incident just after 10.30pm on Saturday evening just past the Tongaat toll bridge.
“Reports from the scene indicate that a large rock had been thrown from the same bridge where two people were killed recently. In the latest incident, the patient a 26-year-old man was travelling northbound on the N2 when the rock impacted his windscreen as he passed the bridge. Luckily the man only suffered soft tissue damage to his shoulder as the rock landed on the passenger side of the car,” said Netcare 911 spokesman Shawn Herbst.
The incident comes two days after a rock throwing incident in the same vicinity in broad daylight.
On Thursday, Aliza Cilliers said she was travelling towards King Shaka International Airport when a large rock was hurled at her vehicle shattering her passenger window.
Luckily she escaped unharmed.
The latest incident also comes a week after the tragic deaths of Amina Haffejee, 16, and her brother Abdur Raheem, 7, who died when a boulder struck the windscreen of the car they were travelling in. They were travelling towards KwaDukuza (Stanger) on the N2 between oThongathi and Ballito when the tragedy occurred.
A R250 000 reward for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of suspects allegedly responsible has also been offered.
