Man robbed at gunpoint in Virginia

The suspects are still at large.

A MAN was robbed of his cell phone and wallet while walking near Virginia Airport on Monday morning. According to Capt Raymond Deokaran, spokesman for the Durban North SAPS, the incident occurred at about 3am.

“According to the complainant, he was walking home after a party in the area. He was approached by two men, one of whom was armed with a handgun. The suspects demanded his valuables and took his cell phone and wallet before fleeing on foot,” he said.

No arrests have been made by the police. A case of robbery has been opened at the Durban North station.

Last year, police warned of two men who pretend to ask for directions before robbing the unsuspecting victims.

Durban North SAPS has urged pedestrians where possible to try and walk in big groups to avoid falling victim to muggings.
