Paramedics deliver baby girl at uMhlanga hotel

The 22-year-old mother had unexpectedly gone into labour in her hotel room.

NETCARE 911 paramedics helped deliver a baby girl at an uMhlanga hotel on Saturday just before lunchtime. Shawn Herbst, media liaison officer for Netcare said the 22-year-old mom had unexpectedly gone into labour.

“Paramedics were greeted by hotel staff who promptly took the medics to the hotel room suite where the young mother had unexpectedly gone into labour. A Netcare 911 emergency care practitioner who responded to the scene, found the patient on the hotel room floor in an advanced stage of labour and immediately prepared for delivery.

“Once delivery had safely been completed, the baby girl and ecstatic mother were thoroughly reassessed and found to be in good health. Both patients were carefully moved and loaded into the ambulance and were transported to hospital for further care,” he said.
