Burnt body found on Ridgeside Drive

The charred remains of the man's body was discovered by members of the public.

DURBAN North police are investigating the circumstances around the charred remains of a man’s body which was found next to a bus stop on Ridgeside Drive in uMhlanga on Friday morning.

The body was discovered by members of the public said police spokesperson Capt Raymond Deokaran.

“It looks like an incident that happened fairly recently, within the last few hours. We found a plastic of petrol next to the man’s body as well as several beer bottles littered around him. A lighter was also found at the scene.

“At this stage we are unsure if this is a murder or a suicide. We are awaiting the pathologist’s report. We are appealing to the community to come through with any information that might help with our investigation,” he said.
