New uMhlanga hotel opens its doors

The hotel has 140 suites and apartments, extensive conference and meeting facilities.

LUXURY hotel and apartment group The Capital Hotels & Apartments has expanded its national footprint with the opening of The Capital Pearls Resort Hotel in uMhlanga, KwaZulu-Natal.

The opening follows a R1.2-billion-rand investment by the group that will also result in a 300-room luxury property opening in early 2018 in Sandton, Johannesburg.

The hotel is in the fifth phase of The Pearls of Umhlanga development, and has 140 suites and apartments, extensive conference and meeting facilities accommodating up to 200 delegates, and direct access onto the main uMhlanga Beach.

“This is a strategic addition to the group’s portfolio, with its direct easy access to The Pearls of Umhlanga’s mall, restaurants and leisure facilities, the beach and nearby business hubs,” said Marc Wachsberger, MD at The Capital Hotels & Apartments.

“Establishing an apartment hotel in uMhlanga made sense to us as the area has seen massive growth and has become KwaZulu-Natal’s business hub in the last few years. Corporates are choosing the area because of its new infrastructure, easy access to highways, and proximity to King Shaka International Airport.”
