Gang storms uMhlanga home in armed robbery

The suspects damaged the gate motor and de-railed the gate to gain access to the property.

FOUR armed suspects stormed a Montague Drive home in uMhlanga on Monday afternoon. The armed robbery is the sixth in recent weeks in the area. According to Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA), the suspects used a blue Audi A4 with an ND registration.

“The four occupants of the vehicle entered a home in uMhlanga and held up a family of four. All the suspects were armed with firearms and had on black gloves. They ransacked the home and stole valuables which included jewellery and cellphones. The driveway gate was derailed and the gate motor was damaged. Thankfully the family were not harmed in the incident,” RUSA said in a Facebook post.

This is the first armed robbery in the area since 16 November, when an armed gang of six men robbed two homes and attempted to rob a third within the space of an hour. The gang attempted to rob a home on Moreland Drive (uMhlanga) before robbing a home on Addison Drive (La Lucia) and Hambridge Avenue (Somerset Park).

The suspects are still at large confirmed police.
