Suspect caught for surveillance of police radio frequencies

Investigations are underway in determining how the two-way radios landed in the suspect’s hands.

A 30-YEAR-OLD man was arrested just after lunch time on Tuesday in a joint operation by Provincial Organised Crime, National Intervention Unit, Metro Crime Prevention, and EThekwini Outer North Crime Intelligence. The suspect was found in a possession of 20 emergency service two-way radios and was caught red handed monitoring them in an out-building in Morningside, Durban.

SAPS Provincial spokesman, Lt Col Thulani Zwane said the members monitored the suspect for a week and suspected that there might be someone who may be leaking information on Police operations to criminals.
