Lend a helping paw at market fundraiser

The Christmas Market fundraiser takes place on Saturday, 25 November from 8am to 5pm at the Spade Design Centre, 185 Lothian Road.

FOR the past five years, a Christmas fundraiser, in aid of animal rescue organisations has been held in Durban North. This year is no different, as local resident, Denzil Burmester is raising funds for Feeding the Furballs. The organisation, run by Redhill resident, Farrah Khan Maharajh is a registered non-profit and public benefit organisation providing assistance to rescued animals and sanctuaries.

Burmester said she could not have chosen a more deserving organisation.

“In the past we’ve raised funds for Project Dog, Persian Cat Rescue and Feral Cat Rescue Trust and this year I thought we’d support Farrah and her amazing work. A portion of the sales on the day will go towards the organisation. The Durban North community has been fantastic in their support of us and we love giving back. I’m hoping to see as many feet through the door on that Saturday to help support the furballs. It’s also a way for us to raise awareness for what Farrah’s organisation does,” Burmester said.

Maharajh said she was looking forward to the event.

“To have local businesses support local animal charities in the north Durban area is incredible. We are grateful that Denzil has chosen us as this year’s beneficiary as December is an incredibly tough month for all rescues. Denzil has always been a supporter of local animal organisations and we are extremely grateful for any donation or contribution made on the day or before, no matter how big or small,” she said.
