WATCH: Ellis Park Drive family find thief in their garden

The brazen thief seems undeterred by the homeowner spotting him or two dogs barking at him.

GREENWOOD Park Police and Marshall Security are looking for a suspect involved in theft of a handbag and other valuables from an Ellis Park Drive home. The house break-in occurred on Thursday morning. A video uploaded from a neighbour’s security CCTV camera shows the suspect trying to sneak away along the edge of the fence before being spotted by the homeowner of the property.

The suspect, seems to freeze but is undeterred by two barking dogs, he simply jumps over the wall and makes a hasty retreat with the stolen items intact.

According to the homeowner, Simone Klette, the video shows the thief leaving the scene.

“The intruder gained access through a neighbour two houses up (who filmed the guy). He climbed through the tiny whole he cut in our security gate and climbed through and walked around our house while we slept. He was very organised and very quiet. There was no cash in my handbag, just credit cards and other small items. He also stole laptops, house keys, remotes, car keys, baby monitor. He was completely undisturbed by my screaming at him, throwing a pram at him and the the alarm going off,” Klette said.

In the video, a family two doors up from the home that was broken into, are seen chasing the suspect.

“The homeowner managed to press the panic button and a member of Marshall also gave chase but couldn’t catch the suspect who escaped on foot,” he said.
