Shots fired in Northway armed robbery

The armed robbery came an hour after another home invasion in uMhlanga by the same suspects.

POLICE and Marshall Security are looking for five suspects involved in a home invasion on Kenneth Kaunda (Northway) just after 2.30pm on Wednesday. Five suspects derailed the main gate of the home before using a crowbar to break down the back door of the home. According to Marshall Security’s Kyle van Reenen, two young children, who were at home of the time of the robbery barricaded themselves in one of the rooms while the suspects ransacked the home.

The armed robbery came an hour after another home invasion in uMhlanga by the same suspects.

“In the Northway incident, the father and his daughter arrived home and found the getaway driver waiting at the front door. He leveled his firearm at the duo who abandoned the vehicle and ran for help. The suspects then took several items and sped off in a getaway vehicle. A member of the public attempted to give chase and the suspects opened fire on him, luckily he escaped major injury. The suspects were last seen fleeing in the vicinity of Chris Hani (North Coast) Road,” he said.
