“Traffic was severely affected in the area as part of the roadway remained closed, to allow emergency services space to work. The bus driver, a male, believed to be about 40 years of age, was entrapped in the badly damaged bus. Rescue workers worked fervently, using specialised hydraulic equipment, including the Jaws-of-life to cut him free,” said Marshall Security’s Kyle Van Reenen.

He said the injured were stabilised on scene before being taken by various ambulances to nearby medical facilities for further care.
The cause of the collision is unknown at this stage and will form subject of a SAPS investigation.

The incident comes a day after a man robbed at knife-point at N2/M41 uMhlanga interchange in the same vicinity.
