Durban North teenager robbed by men

The robbery took place on Ranleigh Crescent on Sunday just after 9am.

A 16-YEAR-OLD teenager was robbed of her cell phone and backpack on Sunday by two men who approached her under the pretense of needing help. According to Capt Raymond Deokaran, spokesman for the Durban North SAPS, the incident occurred just after 9am near the Crusaders Sports Grounds.

“The local resident was walking on Ranleigh Crescent and had her headphones in when she noticed two men approaching her. One of the suspects asked for R2 when she said she didn’t have anything the suspects became violent. They robbed her of her iPhone and her backpack with her gym kit in it. The suspects then fled on foot and are still at large,” he said.

The incident follows a robbery at the N2/M41 uMhlanga interchange which also occurred over the weekend.

The driver was robbed of R16 000 worth of items by three men at the N2/M41 traffic lights split. According to Deokaran, one of the suspects, armed with a knife, pretended to be a beggar in the incident which occurred at about 6.50pm.
