Teenage jogger injured in Forest Drive accident

The jogger, an overseas tourist was running in La Lucia when the accident occurred.

AN 18-year-old jogger was seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle on Forest Drive in La Lucia on Tuesday afternoon. According to Kyle van Reenen, of Crisis Medical, the teenage tourist was attempting to cross the road when she was hit by a wing mirror.

“We suspect she may have sustained internal injuries. Reports from the scene indicate she was hit in the chest by the wing mirror of a vehicle while trying to cross the road. She was treated and stabilized on scene by Crisis Medical paramedics and taken through to a local hospital,” he said.

Paramedics also attended to an accident a Delaware Avenue on Thursday afternoon after a bakkie overturned.

“Three people were injured, one seriously so. The men were taken to Addington Hospital. It is unclear what caused the vehicle to overturn and the necessary investigations will be conducted by the local authorities,” van Reenen said.

The accidents comes two weeks after a biker was tragically killed on the M4. Luc Lenferna de la Motte was driving home when he hit two sandbags that were left in the road. He was thrown of his bike and sustained critical injuries. Paramedics later found his body in the centre median.
