Have a flower fiesta with Pink Phoenix

Funds raised at this event is for Pink Phoenix Cancer Foundation's 'Kids 4 Life' Initiative which assists children diagnosed with cancer with funding for treatment costs.

THE seventh annual Ladies Cancer Luncheon hosted by Key Events takes place on Wednesday, 1 November at the Durban Country Club at 12 noon. The event is in aid of the Pink Phoenix Cancer Foundation. Founder of the organisation, Sharon van Straaten, said she aims, through the event, to raise more awareness for cancer.

“We are finding more young women being diagnosed with breast cancer. In some cases medical aid doesn’t pay for mammograms unless you are over 40, so younger women are not doing their physical breast examinations as regularly as they should. The more awareness we can raise the better as early detection is key.

Nikki Smith of the company said there will be 220 guests and tickets are available for the event from Key Events.

“We encourage ladies to dress in your best flower fiesta ensemble. We still have tickets available and we are always looking for sponsorship. We work on a zero budget for this event and everything is sponsored, even our decor which is being done creatively by Mandy Conradt from Mandsmade and Denzil Burmester from Spade design centre,” she said.
