Armed men assault elderly La Lucia couple

This is the sixth incident in La Lucia in the last three weeks.

AN elderly La Lucia couple were the latest victims of an armed robbery which occurred on Saturday evening. According to Marshall Security’s Tyron Powell, five suspects, one armed with an AK47 stormed the Gainsford Place home and held up the couple.

“The men used a hammer to break down the front gate before assaulting the couple. The men ransacked the home and fled. The Durban North and Umhlanga Crisis Team were also on hand to assist the traumatised couple. The armed robbery was followed shortly after by a break-in on William Campbell Drive (La Lucia).  Thankfully no one was injured in the break-in as the owner was not at home at the time of the incident,” he said.

The home invasion also follows a shootout with an armed reaction officer and a gang of four suspects at a William Campbell Drive home.
