Sharks Trail Adventure gets a facelift

A few weeks after the conclusion of the Currie Cup season, the Cell C Sharks squad will once again be in attendance, mixing with their fans and helping out at water tables throughout the day.

THE sixth annual STIHL Sharks Trail Adventure at the Summerveld Estate on Sunday, 3 December will feature a number of tweaks and improvements to the mountain bike and trail running routes aimed at enhancing the popular family day’s appeal.

The event coincides with the start of the school holidays, and the mix of accessible riding and running events and the now well established vibe at the Summerveld Estate afterwards has made it a must-do for families enjoying getting into a holiday frame of mind.

A few weeks after the conclusion of the Currie Cup season, the Cell C Sharks squad will once again be in attendance, mixing with their fans and helping out at water tables throughout the day.

Runners who took part in the 9km and 18km trail runs vowed to return with fellow trail running enthusiasts in tow, and can expect to find a few enhancements to both courses, including a revamped trail that will take the 9km runners up to a new viewpoint that overlooks the Shongweni valley.

The 40km and 20km MTB routes have also been fine tuned to make them even more memorable and rider friendly, as the course designer Andrew van Rensberg seeks to take riders to spectacular corners of the Shongweni valley.

To offer balance for the less serious athletes, the well supported 10km Family Ride around the Summerveld complex and Tongaat Hullett Estate and the festive 2km Sharkie Fun Ride will give youngsters a chance to get involved, while providing an entertaining spectacle for the riders that have finished their mornings racing.

The shady Summerveld Estate will provide an ideal backdrop for families to relax and enjoy the rest of the day, browsing the Shongweni Farmers Market stalls, enjoying the range of food and drink on sale and listening to the live music.

The event takes place at Summerveld Estate in Shongweni on Sunday 3 December. Entries can be submitted online via www.roag.co.za and more information can be found at www.sharkstrailadventure.co.za.
