Another armed robbery in La Lucia

Three armed suspects tied the homeowners up during the armed home invasion.

A LA Lucia family was held up by an armed gang on Friday night. The armed robbery was the eighth incident in the north Durban area in recent weeks. The home invasion also follows a shootout with an armed reaction officer and a gang of four suspects at a William Campbell Drive home on Thursday morning.

According to Marshall Security’s Kyle van Reenen, the latest armed robbery occurred on Churchill Avenue.

“There were three armed suspects who forced driveway gates open before kicking down the front door. They accosted the homeowners and tied them up. They made off with a flat screen TV, a safe and other items. Unfortunately, the residents did not see what vehicle was used in the house robbery. The suspects managed to flee the area and are still at large,” he said.

On Thursday, an armed gang robbed and assaulted a Somerset Drive family. The gang, three of whom were armed, stormed the premises just before lunchtime, confirmed Capt Raymond Deokaran, spokesman for the Durban North SAPS. One of the homeowners was assaulted in the robbery.
