DURBAN North SAPS have confirmed an attempted murder case has been opened after a shooting on the M4 near the Sibaya traffic circle. According to Capt Raymond Deokaran, spokesman for the station, a municipal official was in the vehicle that was shot at. The driver of the vehicle found two bullet holes in the door.

“The incident occurred at about 6.15pm and according to the driver of the vehicle he heard two loud shots and stopped the vehicle only to discover two bullet holes in the passenger door of the vehicle. Luckily no one was injured in the incident and we are treating this as an attempted murder case,” he said.

This is the third incident where shots have been fired at vehicles near the Sibaya precinct.

Earlier this year, a Mount Edgecombe resident warned other motorists to be careful when driving at night in the vicinity of the Sibaya traffic circle and Peace Cottage.
