WATCH: Man tows eMdloti guard hut down the road

Police confirmed the man had been arrested last week.

VIDEO footage of an eMdloti resident damaging a security hut on Bellamont Road has emerged. The man, appeared at the Verulam Magistrate’s Court last week on charges of malicious damage to property after being arrested.

The video shows the resident towing the hut and ripping it off its base and leaving the damaged structure on its side.

Chairman of the uMhlanga/Durban North SAPS, Haden Searles said the hut was set up on Bellamont Road by members of the eMdloti Community Policing Forum for security purposes.

According to Searles, the hut was set-up after a series of armed home invasions as a monitoring point  to report suspicious vehicles which were being used in the robberies.

The video was captured by CCTV cameras earlier this month. The Northglen News is awaiting commenting from the man caught on the video towing away the guard hut.
