Two arrested for armed robbery on Riverside Road

The suspects also assaulted the victim in the incident.

TWO men have been arrested after robbing and assaulting a man on Riverside Road on Saturday afternoon. According to Marshall Security’s Kyle van Reenen, the suspects used a toy gun in the robbery.

“An elderly man was held up by the suspects who demanded his cell phone and money. He was assaulted by the duo during the robbery and fled the scene. The victim was able to provide reaction officers with a description of the suspects. The men were arrested by an armed reaction officer from Marshall Security. They were found in possession of a toy gun and the man’s valuables,” he said.

The incident follows a cyclist who was stabbed and robbed less than a week ago.

The local resident, was approached by two men armed with knives. They demanded his valuables and stabbed him in the arm and both of his legs while robbing him of his cell phone.
