Armed men storm Durban North home

The gang of four are still at large following the home invasion.

A DURBAN North couple were roughed up by several suspects after an armed robbery on Kenneth Kaunda (Northway) on Friday night. According to Marshall Security’s Kyle van Reenen, the suspects derailed the front gate to gain access to the property.

“The gang used a sledgehammer to break down the front door and confronted a husband and wife, who were at home at the time. The suspects roughed them up before confining them in one of the rooms. They made off with an undisclosed amount of cash, jewellery and other items from the safe,” he said.

The incident comes a day after an armed robbery in Prestondale where a mom and daughter were tied up.

In that incident three men, armed with knives, confronted the mother and daughter, who were home at the time and cable tied their hands behind their backs and put them into a bedroom. The armed men then ransacked the premises before stealing the homeowner’s vehicle, a white VW Polo, and fleeing in an unknown direction.

The armed robbery is the latest in a crime spike in the North Durban area.
