uMhlanga hotel cement slabs crush parked car

The incident occurred at around 9pm last night.

PARTS of the newly constructed Protea Hotel Umhlanga by Marriot came crumbling down last night as massive chunks of cement slammed on to a BMW parked in the parking lot.

The incident occurred at around 9pm.

This morning, the hotel’s general manager, Sylvia de Fries said: “We take this incident very seriously and cornered off the area we thought was not safe at the moment. We don’t believe that there will be further damage.”

Spokesperson for Protea Hotels by Marriott, Danny Bryer, confirmed the incident  saying, “No injuries have been reported and the hotel continues to operate as usual.”
