uMhlanga driver shot during hijacking

The 35-year-old is in a serious but stable condition.

AN uMhlanga driver is in a serious but stable condition following a hijacking in Tongaat last night. Treshen Chetty (35) was shot in the chest at around 8pm last night. According to Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) they arrived on the scene in Buffelsdale, Tongaat and found Chetty with a bullet wound to his chest. Prem Balram of RUSA said: “One suspect who was armed with a pistol demanded Chetty’s car keys and fired a bullet into his chest.”

Balram added that Chetty’s car was found abandoned near the King Shaka International Airport.
Service department manager for CMH Umhlanga Vischal Maharaj said he was shocked after hearing the news last night.
“I was in complete shock when I arrived at the scene. When I got to Treshen he was in an immense amount of pain and was battling to breathe due to a loss of blood. His vehicle was recovered just three kilometers away from where he was hijacked. He is currently in a serious but stable condition. We wish him a speedy recovery,” said Maharaj.
