Thieves try to burn wooden window frames to gain access to home

The thieves used wood and paper in an attempt to burn the wooden cottage pane window frame and made a small hole in the glass pane.

THIEVES attempted to gain access to a Park Hill home on Friday morning by burning the wooden frames of a window. The incident occurred at about 3am. Messages on the Clarendon Road Neighbourhood Watch WhatsApp group said the thieves had failed to gain access to the home on Edgeley Road.

Another user said a similar method had been used at a home on Eastview Road. The attempted break-ins comes a week after a warning by chairman of the watch, Denise Masson. In the last six weeks they have received reports of 11 incidents of break-ins and fence hopping.

“This is not the first time we have seen a spike in crime like this. It happened last year as well, and I believe criminals are simply moving from one area to the next – taking advantage where ever they can,” she added. “They will keep striking until we take a stand.”

In the latest incident, the thieves used wood and paper in an attempt to burn the wooden cottage pane window frame and made a small hole in the glass pane.
