Vodacom says it’s paid back the data

Vodacom adamant that customers have been reimbursed.

CELL PHONE giant, Vodacom insists they have refunded all their users who were affected by last night’s billing system technical glitch that caused data and airtime to ‘vanish’.

Angry Vodacom customers took to social media to voice their concerns when their data and airtime was depleted. Some outraged customers felt that the ‘vanishing data’ and airtime was a deliberate rip off by South Africa’s leading cellular network.

Vodacom spokesperson, Byron Kennedy said the ‘vanishing’ data and airtime was not a deliberate act by the cell phone network company but merely a technical issue.

“A configuration change on our prepaid and top up billing system proved to be problematic and both prepaid and top up subscribers that were active on the network were affected. We were able to roll back this process during the course of last night.

“Vodacom has now reimbursed customers affected by last night’s billing issue and remains committed to ensuring that all customers are refunded in full,” Kennedy said.

He thanked customers for their patience while the matter was being resolved and reiterated the company’s apologies for the inconvenience caused. Kennedy said customers who had outstanding queries should contact their call centre on 111.
