Fisherman robbed of gear in uMhlanga

Durban North SAPS has warned residents not to leave valuables in their car.

A FISHERMAN has lost R32 000 worth of gear and fishing tackle in a theft out of motor vehicle at Peace Cottage at the uMhlanga Lagoon. The incident occurred on Friday between 3.45pm and 6.40am on Saturday confirmed Capt Raymond Deokaran, spokesman for the Durban North SAPS.

“The fisherman’s vehicle was broken into and fishing tackle, rods as well as his KwaZulu-Natal jacket was stolen from the vehicle. The suspect’s had removed the window pane to get access to the vehicle. No arrests have yet been made but we are urging residents not to leave any valuables in their car as opportunistic thieves are on the lookout for such instances,” he said.
