New and improved hall for primary school

The Durban North Primary School unveiled its new and improves hall.

AFTER 12 months of dust and noisy construction, the Durban North Primary School hall has undergone a miraculous transformation

The school recently opened its new and improved facility.

Speaking to the Northglen News on the day, principal Francis Nel said the old hall, which had been built in 1963, was in dire need of a makeover.

“She just got old and was now too small for our school. She was leaking, wood borers had invaded the doors and some of the windows had fallen out,” she said.

“It was just time for some improvements.”

The new facility, which was built over the footprint of the old hall is 200 square meters bigger.

It features a mezzanine floor – so that the hall can be used as a drama studio – as well as offices and a boardroom.

It can now seat 400 learners – twice as many as before.

The next step is to install two JoJo tanks next to hall so that water from the roof can be collected and used to irrigate the field.

“This is a joyous day for our school. There has been so much buzz and excitement from our students,” she said.

Lushan Enoch, the chairman of the school governing body said the new hall would not only benefits the school’s current learners, but will influence leaners for generations to come.
