Residents, artists involved in ‘paw’some donation

La Lucia Art Givers' Expo raised more than R40 000 for the Durban & Coast SPCA.

A TOTAL of R43 154 was raised for the Durban & Coast SPCA by the La Lucia Art Givers’ Expo. The exhibition which has been running for the past 14 years has always supported the animal organisation with a portion of the funds raised donated to the SPCA.

Lindsey Concer of the Durban & Coast SPCA said she was blown away by the donation.

“We just couldn’t believe the news when Christina told us. For the Art Givers’ Expo to do this for us is absolutely wonderful. This is one of the highest amounts raised for the SPCA which is just awesome. The local community have such heart and any donation we receive is welcomed,” Concer said.

Christina Godfrey, a local artist and driving force behind the exhibition, said the funds raised showed how much local residents cared about animals.

“It is the love of animals that unites all the residents. We host two exhibitions a year and I think the exhibition offers local artists a chance to showcase their talent but also give back to the SPCA,” Godfrey said.
