Two dead after Queen Nandi Drive shootout

Three heavily armed suspects remain at large after opening fire on the police on the N2.

TWO armed suspects have been killed after a high speed chase led to a shootout on the N2 (going south) near the Queen Nandi off-ramp. What’s more, the suspects attempted to ram the police off the road resulting in the police and the suspects’ vehicles crossing the median before colliding with another vehicle.

The incident has caused chaos on the road as police had to close off the N2 (southbound) following the crash.

According to Marshall Security’s Kyle van Reenen, police are still looking for three other suspects who opened fire on the police.

“Six heavily armed suspects, driving a white Mercedes-Benz, believed to be part of cash-in-transit syndicate, tried to ram the officers off the freeway and a shootout ensued. Both vehicles careened off the roadway, down the median, before colliding with a civilian vehicle driving southbound. The driver, a woman in her 60s sustained moderate injuries. She was cut free with the Jaws of Life used by members of Rescue Care and Crisis Medical.
