Car stolen on Rinaldo Road, tracked by iPhone

The vehicle was found abandoned off a main road in Sherwood.

A CAR stolen on Rinaldo Road was recovered in Sherwood just after 9pm on Tuesday evening. According to Kyle van Reenen, of Marshall Security the vehicle was allegedly stolen from a sporting arena.

“A member of the public assisted the owner of the vehicle in contacting Marshall Security as she had left her iPhone in the vehicle. We tracked the phone to Sherwood and the Marshall Security Special Operations Team were activated to assist. After a brief tracking period, the Toyota was found abandoned off a main road, with the cellular phone still in the glove box. The vehicle was secured and handed over to the SAPS for further investigation,” he said.

No arrests have yet been made.
