M4 to be reduced to one lane for month

The southbound lane will be affected for the next month.

UMHLANGA ward councillor, Heinz de Boer has confirmed the M4 between Sibaya Circle (BP) and the Ohlanga Bridge will be reduced to one lane for the next month. The provincial roads department is currently working on a section of road damaged by the heavy rains earlier this year.

“The southbound lane is currently affected and has been reduced to one lane for the next month. Work started at the end of June. Part of the road was compromised by the rains and a section on the Ohlanga River side has collapsed. The roads department are also working on securing the embankment which has been affected by heavy rains in the past. I urge residents travelling towards uMhlanga and the city to be patient as this work is critical to securing the safety of the road,” he said.

A tweet sent out earlier in June said both lanes, going north and south, would be affected but De Boer said as far as he was aware, only the southbound lane would be affected for the next three weeks.
