Join ‘paw’some pug walk on Durban Promenade

The event is aimed at creating awareness on, and raising funds for Pug Rescue South Africa.

GET ready for a cuteness overload as hundreds of pugs are set to descend on the Durban beachfront for the annual Durban Pug Walk. The event is set for Sunday, 2 July on the Durban Promenade (outside Wahooz) for 9am. The ‘paw-fect’ event, said organiser, Storm Veronie, is aimed at creating awareness on, and raising funds for Pug Rescue South Africa.

The organisation, founded by Cheryl and Malcolm Gaw, strives to rescue, rehabilitate and re-home abandoned, neglected and surrendered pugs.

“As volunteers we try and organise as many fundraisers in Durban as possible so that we continue to rescue and rehome these loveable dogs,” said the Durban North resident.

Veronie said any donation would be welcome.

“We welcome any donations, at our other events we’ve asked for an item as part of the entrance fee but for the walk we welcome any donation, be it food or blankets or toys,” she said. Participation costs R10 per child/fur child (pug/honorary pug). Also any small breeds and small to medium breeds are welcome and R20 per person.
