WATCH: Dead black mamba found in uMhlanga

The two metre black mamba is thought to have been electrocuted.

A SNAKE, thought to be the elusive reptile that was on the loose on uMhlanga’s beachfront has been found dead. The two metre long black mamba was found near Egret Lane and is thought to have been electrocuted by electric wire. The snake was recently found by panicked residents who initially thought the snake was alive.

Sunningdale snake expert, Jason Arnold said he has been called out on more than five occasions to capture the elusive reptile which had given him the slip.

“Everytime I have gone out, its proved difficult to find. The people that reported it said there are a few rats around so that could have drawn the snake to the area. Initially I suspect it was a Mozambique spitting cobra because I’ve got a few near the Hawaan Forest but I was shocked when the residents saying it was a black mamba. The residents said the snake was lying motionless on their lawn,” he said.
