Support victims of Knysna fire

A local resident has begun emergency relief efforts to help victims of Knysna fires.

A LA Lucia resident has begun an emergency relief effort in the hopes of helping those affected by the Knysna fires. Thousands of people have been evacuated from the area where a total of six people have lost their lives since Wednesday. Knysna was declared a disaster area earlier on Thursday. Hundreds of homes have already been razed by a runaway fire.

Local resident, Henriette Bruyn, said she was devastated when she saw the scale of the disaster and wanted to help out.

“I couldn’t sleep last night, my heart was sore. There is absolute devastation in Knysna and I wanted to help. This morning I launched an emergency relief effort to assist those affected by the fire.
