IN celebration of World Environmental Day (WED), several beach clean-ups have been scheduled along various Durban beaches on Saturday morning. The WED is the celebrated for positive environmental action.
World Environment Day (WED) is the United Nations’ principal vehicle for encouraging worldwide awareness and action for the environment. The month-long celebrations include celebrations of World Oceans Day (WOD) and World Day to Combat Desertification (WDCD).
Two clean-ups scheduled for tomorrow are being held in conjunction with Miss Earth South Africa.
- uMhlanga’s Caroline Hartog, a KZN semi-finalist for Miss Earth SA will be holding a clean-up on Glenashley Beach (3 June) from 11am to midday. She has urged people to come out and support her day.
- In the second event, Camille Baker, another regional semi-finalist will host a beach clean-up at The Green Hub, Blue Lagoon. Gloves and plastic bags will be provided. For more information, contact Camille on 072 663 1497.
