Missing cat, reunited with its owner four years on

The missing cat was rescued by Tracey Hartley of the Feral Cat Rescue Trust.

A CAT owner says she is overjoyed to be reunited with her beloved cat, Honda, after he went missing four years ago. Long after his owner Shonet du Plessis, had moved on, but never forgotten, the domestic short hair feline was reunited on Thursday morning.

Tracey Hartley of Feral Cat Rescue Trust recently helped with the reunion after trapping what she thought was a feral cat on the Kindlewood Estate.

The trust is run by a small group of volunteers, passionate about giving feral cats a better quality of life on the streets with the primary concern of sterilisation, but they also feed many colonies and rescue the sick and injured.

“Four years ago, Honda was chased away by another aggressive male cat. Shonet spent months looking for her cat and was devastated when they moved away. She had lost all hope of ever finding him again. Last week I had a phone call from someone on the estate who told me they had a black cat coming to them and would feed twice a day.

“I eventually trapped him and took him to the vet because we believed the cat was a feral. He was super friendly and it only occurred to me once I was chatting to Shonet, who now lives in Everton that this was her cat. I said you have to look at this cat, I think it’s Honda. Low and behold it was actually Honda, she was overjoyed to see him,” she said.

The duo have been reunited and Honda will now join Shonet in a farm in Everton

“He has done amazingly well on his own, he did have a bit of hair missing but he was fit and healthy. I’m so happy that this rescue has had such an amazing ending,” she said.
