Stand for a cause in your slippers

Friday is Slipper Day where you get to wear your slippers to work or school in support of The Reach For A Dream Foundation's efforts to help children fighting life-threatening illnesses.

FRIDAY is Slipper Day and The Reach For A Dream Foundation is asking the public to support the annual campaign. On Slipper Day people can wear their slippers to work or school and show they stand with children who face life-threating illnesses.

The foundation is also asking people to buy one of three specially designed wristbands to support their cause.

Each of the three wristbands was designed by The Reach For A Dream Foundation’s celebrity ambassadors, DJ Fresh, Carrol Boyes, Roxy Burger, Gert-Johan Coetzee and Lira.

Each design embodies one of three values the foundation feels ‘make dreams come alive and inspire dreamers to be positive, to heal, and to embrace their dreams for the future’. These are hope, courage and strength.

“The vision of Reach For A Dream is to fulfil the aspirations of children between the ages of three and 18 who have been diagnosed with life-threatening illnesses. Our mission is to inspire hope in the lives of dreamers as they face the daily challenge of treatment, and difficult and demanding situations which can isolate them from peers and friends,” said KZN co-ordinator, Charmaine Premlal.
