Elderly driver overturns car on N2

The motorist of the vehicle alleges he was pushed off the road.

AN elderly motorist overturned his car on the N2 yesterday, after he was allegedly pushed off the road by another driver.

Chris Botha, Netcare 911’s spokesperson said, “At around 11am a Netcare 911 rescue officer was travelling from uMhlanga to Durban when he saw a dust cloud ahead of him. When he neared it along the N2 close to the M25 off ramp, he noticed it was a car that had overturned.”

The motorist alleged he was pushed off the highway by a sports car. The man explained that he was travelling to King Shaka International Airport on the northbound lane when a car with two young people tried to push him off the road from behind.

“The man then pulled to the left and as the sports car came next to him they swerved their vehicle towards him.  With having a fright the man lost control of his vehicle and overturned, the wreckage coming to rest on its roof on the centre median with the man trapped inside,” said Botha.

The Netcare officer ran to the overturned car and managed to break the rear window to get to the driver. The elderly motorist had his seat-belt on and escaped uninjured, but very traumatised.
