World leaders will descend on Durban from May 3 to 5 this week for WEF Africa 2017.

THE South African Police Service and the National Joint Operational and Intelligence Sturcture (NATJOINTS) said that Durban is ready to host the World Economic Forum (WEF) Africa summit. World leaders will descend on Durban from May 3 to 5 this week for the regional event.

More than 1 000 government and business leaders from over 100 countries will attend the summit where Africa’s drive to generate inclusive economic growth and the leadership this requires, will be the focus.

SAPS spokesperson, Brigadier Vishnu Naidoo said on Monday the various departments were activated and ready to provide security for WEF Africa 2017 and maintain the country’s reputation as a host of international events.

The brigadier also gave a warning to protestors. “The NATJOINTS reminds all communities that while the right to protest is respected, any authorised protest action must be conducted in a peaceful, responsible manner, at the designated area and within the confines of the law”,” the spokesperson said.

Motorists were also asked to plan their routes ahead of time because of road closures around the Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre where the event will be held over the three days.
