7-year-old critical after uMhlanga near-drowning incident

The girl is being airlifted to a specialist facility following the incident.

A 7-YEAR-OLD girl is in a critical condition following a near-drowning incident at a hotel pool in uMhlanga. According to Netcare 911 spokesman, Chris Botha, a doctor, who was a guest at the hotel begun CPR on the little girl.

“He helped intubate the little girl before paramedics arrived. At this point she is in a critical condition. The incident follows a drowning of a man at Blue Lagoon beach earlier this morning,” he said.

Garrith Jamieson of Rescue Care Paramedics is also on scene.

“Paramedics have placed her on a manual ventilator and a Red Cross helicopter is on its way to airlift the little girl to a specialist facility in Durban,” he said.
