TAKE NOTE: Part of M4 to be closed on Sunday

Residents are urged to be aware of the road closures and to make use of alternative routes on Sunday morning.

There will be several road closures this weekend ahead of the aQuellé Tour Durban cycle race. The main event, the 105km road race that takes riders from the start at Moses Mabhida up to Pinetown and then back to the beachfront before riders head to Ballito and back, is mostly suited to the sprinters in the race for overall victory.

Part of the M4 will temporarily be closed for the cycle while the biggest climb in the 105km ride is the relatively long ascent up the M7 (Edwin Swales).  Riverside Road, NMR Avenue as well as parts of the M19 will be affected.

As always, the route will have full road closure which means riders only have to worry about other cyclists out on the course.

The public is asked to be aware of the road closures and to make use of alternative routes on Sunday morning.

The approximate road closures are as follows:

  • Masabalala Yengwa (NMR): 5.30am to 2.30pm
  • Margaret Mncadi Avenue: 5.30am to 8am
  • M4 south: 5.30am to 8.30am
  • M7 Edwin Swales and M19 Pinetown: 6am to 9.30am
  • M19 Pinetown to Umgeni Road: 6:15am to 10:00am
  • Inanda Road (Springfield Park): 6.30am to 10.15am
  • Riverside Road: 6.30am to 10.30am
  • M4 north and south bound from Argyle Road to Desaignager Circle: 6.30am to 2pm.
