Domestic worker robbed on Eastview Road

The woman was robbed of her cell phone by four men in a silver bakkie.

A DOMESTIC worker was robbed on Eastview Road on Wednesday afternoon. According to Denise Masson, chairperson of the Clarendon Road Neighbourhood Watch, four men in a silver bakkie accosted the woman and made off with her cellphone. In July last year, Durban North SAPS warned domestic workers to walk in groups where possible after a spate of incidents targeting them.

“She noticed the vehicle didn’t have number plates and there was a learner sign on the back. They took her cell phone and tried to steal her handbag but were unsuccessful. The men were spooked when a vehicle drove past and made a hasty escape. We’ve had a few incidents on Eastview Road in quick succession. We are urging residents to be vigilant,” she said.
