Taxi driver robbed of R10 820 on N2

The suspects, some of whom were armed, fled on foot after the robbery.

DURBAN North SAPS are investigating the robbery of a taxi driver on the N2 near eMdloti. The incident took place on Monday near the eMdloti RTI building at about 6.30am. According to Capt Raymond Deokaran, spokesman for the Durban North SAPS, the driver was robbed of R10 820.

“He pulled off on the yellow line to pick up passengers. Six men approached him, some of whom were armed with handguns. They took R10 820 in cash which the driver had been collecting from his fares throughout his shift. The men then fled the area. The driver was unharmed in the incident,” he said.

No arrests have yet been made.
