THE overgrown grounds of a vacant property on Tramway Road have a neighbouring resident calling for the grounds to be properly maintained. Northglen News recently met with Park Hill resident, Michael Groves, who says the bush in the neighbouring property now towers over the roof of his own home.
Another problem exacerbating the issue is a water leak which has left part of Groves’ garden constantly wet and soggy. He added he is now worried about subsidence of the land and has called on the City to act.
“The problem is no one can’t identify where the water is coming from. There is an overgrown bush near the fence that we share where I cannot cut the grass because of the leak. I risk getting electrocuted by the stream of water running through the grass.
“I’ve found snakes in the grass and I’m scared to even contemplate what is in the property next door. There’s a pool of water in one corner of my property where mosquitoes breed causing another issue. The unseen concern of course is subsidence, the ground in my yard is incredible soggy and the ground is constantly wet,” he said.
Groves said his frustration is mounting as the City are yet to respond to him.
“We cannot keep going on like this; the lack of response from the City is incredibly frustrating. I cannot understand how no one can track down the property owner or why the City don’t cut back the bush and bill the homeowner,” he said.
Groves said he had even tried cutting back the overgrowth at the rear of the property himself on a number of occasions, but was unable to keep up with the ever-spreading bush.
